New Moon in Scorpio: Through the Depths, Clarity Begins to Emerge…

We're wrapping up what has felt like one of the most intense Scorpio seasons to date. I've been confronted with so many of my fears and insecurities these past few weeks, my head is still swimming. Are you feeling it, or is it just me?

Scorpio season always takes us on a journey through the underworld – into the more shadowy, deeper parts of ourselves and life. Add a Mercury retrograde (Rx) and Water Grand Trine in the mix, and you've got a setup for mental and emotional excavating and purging – painful at times, yes – but deeply cathartic. I can feel myself slowly emerging stronger through navigating these depths.

And now we're closing Scorpio season with one of the most powerful New Moons I've seen since I began studying astrology. Just look at that chart! So many planets in conversation – adding movement, seeding, breakthroughs, and support in multiple directions.

Key Aspects of the New Moon in Scorpio at 28° on Nov 19th:

  • Mercury Rx in Cazimi with the Sun + conjunct the New Moon: clarity emerging through the dark. What's hidden begins to be revealed.

  • New Moon + Mercury Rx opposing Uranus Rx in Taurus: changes, insight, and shakeups to thoughts, communications, and resources.

  • New Moon Trine Neptune Rx in Pisces: intuitive insight, inspiration, creativity – but be mindful of fogginess, doubt, and distortion.

  • Venus trine the North Node / sextile South Node: supportive growth, divine forward movement, and release of outdated relational patterns and values.

  • The Grand Water Trine with Jupiter Rx in Cancer, Saturn Rx in Pisces, and Scorpio New Moon: what begins now is tied to what also must be grieved and released. Cleansing, intuitive, supportive…and emotionally heavy at times. Gentleness is key.

  • Mars in Sagittarius + Pluto in Aquarius (Scorpio's co-rulers): truth, expansion, drive, community, and transformation hums in the background.

Most notably, Mercury – planet of communications, our thoughts, and our perceptions – is sitting with this New Moon in a conjunction. Mercury Rx (Nov 9 - 29) has been taking us on a journey through both Sagittarius and Scorpio, expanding truths, pulling us into the depths of things, and inviting us to investigate where a perspective shift or belief-level rewiring may be needed.

Mercury Rx's are great for observing our inner dialogue and noticing patterns in our communications. Mercury Cazimi is typically the moment clarity drops in thanks to the Sun’s light, but this one has a slightly different flavor. New Moons, points of seeding and initiation, happen behind the scenes, in the dark. With Mercury Rx in play here, deeper, more penetrating realizations may bubble up than we're used to. And honestly…that's a gift.

We fear what's hidden, but sitting in that discomfort is how we meet ourselves at a soul level. It's how our strength and resilience gets rebuilt. This Mercury Rx + New Moon combo is offering us a chance to see where we keep tripping ourselves up. Where our shadows outrun our light. Where we feel triggered yet undeniably clear on how we've been holding ourselves back.

Uranus Rx in Taurus opposes the New Moon + Mercury Rx – adding wildcard energy into the mix. Uranus energy awakens and liberates, but often brings surprising, charged shifts along with it. Radical thoughts, ideas, track changes, you name it. All on the table with this New Moon, setting the tone for the next month. With Taurus involved, there is something related to our values, resources, and money being highlighted.

But not all is totally clear, as the New Moon is forming a strong trine to Neptune Rx in Pisces, sitting close to Saturn Rx, forming part of the Grand Water Trine with Jupiter Rx in Cancer, and the transiting planets in Scorpio. Neptune energy brings in the imagination, dreams, fantasies, and intuition – but also the uncertainty, fogginess, and distortion.

Speaking of the Grand Water Trine, it was first activated by Mercury and Mars at the start of Scorpio season, and is now activated by the New Moon + Mercury Rx at the end of Scorpio season. Grand Water Trines offer a mixture of support and release. Water flows and washes debris away, while also nourishing and renewing the soil.

So yes – a LOT is happening with this New Moon.

I think while we will receive a greater sense clarity this week, some of it might still be more on a internalized level. Things to contemplate before taking any bold, daring actions. If you find yourself in this place, trust that more clarity and external drive is coming.

Once we reach the Gemini Full Moon on Dec 4, things really open up. Mercury Rx will be complete and the Sun will be in Sagittarius = less heaviness and more readiness to share and act on what we've learned. And that Grand Water Trine activates again – but this time with Mercury direct, moving with more certainty.

As with any New Moon, it's a good time to check in with yourself and bring more awareness towards what seeds are ready to be planted and initiated over the next 30 days – and in true Scorpio form – what must die so something new can be born.

The transformation is underway. Rebirth follows. xo, Tiffany
