Full Moon in Capricorn: Reflection, Release & Mid-Year Clarity
What a surge of energy we've moved through this past week. I hope you're being gentle with yourself if things have felt intense. And now, we've reached the Full Moon—a moment of peak emotion and illumination.
The Full Moon in Capricorn is exact today, July 10th at 1:36 PM PT, at 18° Capricorn, opposite the Sun in Cancer. This lunation activates the Cancer-Capricorn axis, spotlighting the tension between our inner and outer worlds.
Capricorn is an earth sign, symbolized by the mountain goat, ruled by Saturn.
Representing time, achievements, responsibilities, long-term structures, lessons, self-mastery, and legacy.
Cancer is a water sign, symbolized by the crab, ruled by the Moon.
Representing home, family, roots, ancestry, the past, our emotional, inner foundations, and place of safety.
This Full Moon acts as a mid-year check in, arriving six months after the New Moon in Capricorn we had around the New Year. It's a great moment to reflect on the goals you set back then and make adjustments if something isn't working. You might ask:
Is what I've been working on producing the results I want?
Am I carrying too many responsibilities? What needs to drop off?
Do I need more discipline and structure to reach my goals?
How can I better manage my time to ensure I make steady progress?
Is there a way to restore balance to both the Cancer and Capricorn areas of my life?
Capricorn energy can feel a bit harsh at times—but at it's essence, it's deeply practical and logical, whereas the Moon is soft, tender, sensitive energy that can feel emotional friction when in Capricorn. It's a placement that urges maturity, even when we'd rather retreat into comfort and our feels.
And with Saturn (Capricorn's ruler) stationing retrograde just two days later in Aries, this Full Moon comes with an extra dose of pressure and reality checks.
Saturn in Aries has been urging us to build new structures for ourselves, but it's likely felt harder than anticipated. We've had that square to Jupiter to work through, which has limited our expansion, plus the conjunction with Neptune in Aries, which has added a layer of fog and confusion to the path forward. Saturn brings past actions into focus—it rewards effort, delays it, or shows us where more work is needed. A lesson is typically involved when it comes to Saturn matters.
Despite the weight of it, this Full Moon does have some really supportive aspects worth mentioning:
The Moon trines the South Node in Virgo—inviting us to release perfectionism, chronic overthinking, bad habits, and health stressors.
The Moon also sextiles the North Node in Pisces—giving us an opportunity to trust our intuition, extend compassion towards ourselves, and see the spiritual growth that comes out of hardship and struggle.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
Six months ago, at the New Moon in Capricorn, I found myself at a crossroads: Should I continue putting effort towards my business—my ultimate passion—that's admittedly felt difficult to scale?
Or, should I return to a more traditional career path in marketing?
Since then, I’ve explored both paths—but neither has fully clicked. I’ve bounced between the two, trying to gain traction in either direction, only to feel blocked and frustrated. Some days I feel hopeful. Other days, the pressure to figure it out is overwhelming and discouraging.
This Full Moon falls in my second house, which rules income, security, self-worth, and survival. The Sun in Cancer lands in my eighth—highlighting transformation, shared resources, and emotional depth.
It also happens to sit in the houses of my natal Nodes—activating their energy and making this feel like a personal karmic checkpoint.
I keep thinking: I just need clarity. A sign. One, clear path that feels the most aligned.
But maybe what I need most… is release.
Release from the pressure to have it all figured out.
Release from the mental loops that tell me I’m behind.
And trust that the right path is forming—even if I can’t fully see it yet.
My job is to keep showing up and working through the resistance.
The solution might not be one thing or the other—but somewhere in-between.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
This Full Moon is a moment to reflect on what’s sustainable—and what’s not.
There's a call to surrender our grip a bit—so we can move through the pressure, trust the process, and glean the important learnings.
If you've been holding on to too much, you may feel the pressure to reprioritize, let something go, or shift direction. That pressure can bring up grief, confusion, or even a sense of relief in what's being illuminated and becoming more clear. Full Moons bring culmination. And also closure.
This is not about giving up. It’s about letting go of what isn’t working so you can better commit to what is. And don't forget to celebrate what is working! Your progress deserves recognition, too. Even if it's not yet at the level you had hoped.
